A Tripartite Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) for Cambodia for the period 2016-2018

The MOU was signed to agree and affirm their commitment to collaborate in the implementation of the DWCP in order to promote and advance decent work in Cambodia

A Tripartite Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) for Cambodia for 2016-2018 was organized by Minister of Labour and Vocational Training supported by the ILO, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Phnom Penh on 19 October 2016.

The MOU was signed by Dr. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training of Cambodia, Mr Van Sou Ieng, President of Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations (CAMFEBA), Ms Tep Kimvannary, Representative of Cambodian Trade Unions, and Mr Maurizio Bussi, Country Director of Thailand, Cambodia and Lao PDR.

The parties agreed and affirmed their commitment to collaborate in the implementation of the DWCP in order to promote and advance decent work in the country.

The DWCP has three priorities:
  1. Improving industrial relations and rights at work;
  2. Promoting an enabling environment for decent employment growth and sustainable enterprises, with a focus on young people;
  3. Improving and expanding social protection and OSH.
The DWCP’s design benefited extensively from the evaluation of the previous DWCP, a sound country analysis, extensive tripartite consultation, close interaction with the Cambodia UN Country Team and development partners, as well as direct inputs gathered through the innovative My World of Work survey that captured workers’ and young people aspirations and perceptions on work and employment.
