Work Improvement in Neighbourhood Development (WIND)Training

A four day training from 7 to 10 September on the Work Improvement in Neighbourhood Development (WIND) Methodology was conducted for 42 participants, which included labour officers, agriculture inspectors, agrarian development officers, officers from the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), representatives from the Trade Unions and employers. The training also included a one day field visit to a farm.

A four day residential training programme from 7 to 10 September on the Work Improvement in Neighbourhood Development (WIND) Methodology was conducted for 42 participants, which included labour officers, agriculture inspectors, agrarian development officers, officers from the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), representatives from the Trade Unions and employers. The training also included a one day field visit to a farm.

The WIND training programme provides practical responses to problems in occupational safety and health particularly in agricultural work .WIND applies a participatory and action oriented training approach, designed for rapid and sustainable improvements in farmers’ safety, health and working conditions.

The Wind Asian Version of the manual was used for the training and the manual has been translated into the local languages. The training was conducted by three resource persons from the Philippines Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Agriculture supported by the ILO OSH Expert in SRO New Delhi.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health along with the Ministry of Agriculture will conduct further trainings for farmers and farming communities on their own.
