Trade unions in Thailand has stressed the need for the ratification of ILO Conventions No.87 and No.98 and constantly requested the Government to take steps for its ratification. On the occasion of a tripartite meeting held in April 2009 to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the ILO, union representatives expressed their concerns about the restrictions of labour rights and raised a voice to respect for Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining at the workplace. At the May Day held in 2009, trade union organizations submitted a charter of demands to the Government which included the ratification and implementation of Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining.
