Objectives of the meeting
In this workshop, experts and specialists in the field of human health and animal health will provide information on pandemic human influenza to the participants on both the global and national scale. Thereafter, the introduction to the Pandemic Human Influenza Manual and Checklist developed by the ILO will be made. This manual is currently titled “Protecting Your Employees and Business from Pandemic Human Influenza”. The Manual and Checklist are easy-to-apply training tools to promote preparedness action and control of Pandemic Human Influenza at the workplace. A practical training session is slotted for the afternoon where groups will be assigned to apply theory into practice. Thereafter, a representative from each of the groups will provide a short ten minute presentation on the application of the training tools learned.
The programme is designed to reach the following objectives:
1. Raise awareness of workers, employers and relevant government officials on pandemic human influenza both on a national and global scale;
2. Provide a forum to discuss with experts and specialists the practical ways to reduce the risk of pandemic human influenza infection at workplace level; and
3. Present the ILO’s “Protecting Your Employees and Business from Pandemic Human Influenza” manual and action checklist.
