Managing Cross-border Movement of Labour in Southeast Asia

The project aims to protect migrant workers by developing a knowledge base on migration issues for policy makers and building up the capacity of governments to manage orderly labour migration. It advocates for sound national labour migration policies, assists with raising migrant workers’ awareness of their rights, helps them access legal systems, promotes low-cost, efficient remittance systems, and supports skills training and enterprise development.

The ILO STAGE Programme is to reduce poverty and promote economic growth, building national capacity to deliver a demand driven enterprise and skills training, and contributing to the establishment and development of income generating activities within communities.

Protecting Domestic Workers Against Forced Labour and Trafficking

Domestic work is common in the Philippines. Domestic workers are employed in private households, often isolated from their own families and networks. They sweep floors, wash dishes and care for children, but are hidden from the public, for the most part unregistered and poorly covered by labour laws and social protection schemes.

It is a tool for poverty reduction not just poverty alleviation.

ILO-IPEC Project in Support of the Philippine Time-Bound Programme

The PROCEED project is designed to expand the coverage from individual vocational and enterprise training programmes to organizing communities for purposes of enhancing local economic systems to enhance income-generation and self-employment and to help address the chronic issue of poverty in the conflicted areas in Mindanao.

Vocational Training and Enterprise Development

The Project is one of the various components of the a SPCPD-NEDA-UN Multi-donor Assistance Programme. It is funded by the governments of Soain and Belgium. It was designed specifically to support the three-year peace agreement between the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP).

A Pilot Project on Child Workers Engaged in Scavenging in Metro Manila

The pilot project is a technical cooperation programme between the Philippine Government and the International Labour Organization, implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment. The project has tested a programmatic and organizational approach to address the problems of child workers in the pilot site.
