    Textile exporting units in Faisalabad trained on compliance with Labour Standards

    09 December 2015, Faisalabad, Pakistan

    From 8-22 December 2015, the ILO in collaboration with the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) and Oxfam-Novib will run a series of seminars covering eight thematic areas on International Labour Standards. The seminars target management and workers in 12 textile exporting industrial units in Faisalabad with the objective of raising awareness on and enhancing compliance with labour standards and labour laws in the textile sector of Pakistan.

    Commemoration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities: Enhancing the inclusivity of people with disabilities in companies

    People with disabilities are recognized as among the most vulnerable groups in Indonesia, facing discrimination in access to such as education, skills training and, employment. Compared to non-disabled persons, they experience higher rates of unemployment and economic inactivity and are at greater risk of insufficient social protection that is a key to reducing extreme poverty.

    Decent Work, not Hard Work

    Semau Island is one of the areas in Kupang district, East Nusa Tenggara, known for its chronic food insecurity based on the government’s food security and vulnerability assessment released in 2010. To assist the island overcoming its food insecurity, the ILO through its Decent Work for Food Security Project facilitated a technical training on seaweed cultivation.
