   Providing a quality entrepreneurship education and training is a challenge for most countries in the world. In Indonesia, the Government is emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship education and training as stipulated in the Medium Term Development Planning. In order to support the development of entrepreneurship training in Indonesia, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has created and supported a network of entrepreneurship training through Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) programme.

   The International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched a new statistics database containing timely information on the labour market and consumer prices aimed at providing vital information needed by policy makers faced with a global economic and social crisis.

   Michelle Bachelet, the head of UN Women and the Social Protection Floor Advisory Group, told a United Nations “Global Poverty Reduction and Development Forum” held here to coincide with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, that increased social inclusion can promote growth and poverty elimination.

   Bachelet promotes social floor and gender equality in Viet Nam

   The Executive Director of UN Women and Chair of the Social Protection Floor Advisory Group, former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, has called for a global social protection floor, as “the first line of defense” for families and economies against the impact of economic crises and an effective means of achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

   Regional conference towards a domestic workers’ convention

   Domestic workers’ organizations in conjunction with national trade union centres and trade unions from all over Asia will gather to discuss the issues relating to domestic workers’ labour rights and how best to fill the protection gaps inherent in many national laws during 7 – 9 October at Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta.

   Singapore ratifies ILO Tripartite Consultation (International Labour Standards) Convention, 1976 (No. 144)

   04 October 2010,

   The ILO Director-General welcomed the ratification of "this important governance instrument by the Government of Singapore which underpins practices in the area of tripartism and social dialogue in respect of international labour standards and labour legislation."

   ILO News (Bangkok): The International Labour Organization (ILO) has welcomed the landmark agreement reached by Cambodia’s garment sector unions and manufacturers, to improve relations in the industry.

   ILO Social dialogue on informal economy and decent work

   Despite the decline in unemployment and poverty in Indonesia, the number of workers in the informal economy increased by about 2 million between August 2008 and February 2009 as a consequence of the recent global financial and economic crisis.

   The Inauguration of "Decent Work and Tripartism" ceramic road for Hanoi 1,000 years

   The Viet Nam's Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour; Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Viet Nam Cooperatives Alliance and the International Labour Organization (ILO) inaugurated the mural on “Decent Work and Tripartism” of the Ceramic Road and presented it to the Hanoi People’s Committee on 24 September 2010.
