    ILO Country Director Mr Donglin Li Conferred with Pakistan’s Highest Civilian Award

    Pakistan President H.E. Mr Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of National Day conferred the SITARA-I-QUAID-I-AZAM Civil Award to Mr Donglin Li, former Country Director of International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Country Office for Pakistan, for his excellent services to the people of Pakistan. Mr Li is the present Country Director of the ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The Investiture Ceremony for the Awards took place on 23 March 2011 at the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo, hosted by H.E. Ms Seema Illahi Baloch, the High Commissioner of Pakistan.

    Fair and equitable policies are key to quick recovery of Indonesia

    The global crisis had a relatively limited impact on the Indonesian economy and labour markets due to Indonesia’s favourable initial conditions and because of early implementation of counter-cyclical monetary and fiscal measures, said the new study released by the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Wednesday, 23 March. The study entitled “Indonesia: Reinforcing Domestic Demand in Times of Crisis” highlights how well-designed employment and social policies helped Indonesia recover quickly from the crisis.

Though exports and imports of goods and services recorded a two-digit decline in 2009 (exports decreased by 11.4 per cent and imports by 19.5 per cent on the year-to-year basis), international trade is back on a steady expansion path from 2010 in Indonesia.
