BANGKOK (ILO news) – A workshop on labour market information systems will take place in Brunei Darussalam, from 27-28 January 2016.

The event will be hosted by the Department of Human Resources and Development, Economic Planning and Development, which is part of the Prime Minister’s Office, in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO). It will be held at Pusat Dakwah Islamiah (Islamic Propagation Centre).

Participants in the workshop will discuss the findings of the Labour Force Survey (LFS) 2014 and the Labour Market Analysis. The research was undertaken by an ILO project, Revision and Enhancement of the Labour Market Data Sources: Towards Setting Up the Labour Market Information System in Brunei Darussalam. The project is supported by the Government of Brunei.

“Completion of the LFS 2014 and the launching of its report constitute proof of the progress made by Brunei in improving its statistical capacity in the collection and analysis of labour market data, in line with the most recent standards,” said Tite Habiyakare, the ILO’s Regional Labour Statistician. “I am confident that the country will continue this path towards the production of annual labour statistics as in international recommendations”.

The two-day workshop will also take stock of existing labour market data sources in Brunei. Sessions will also be held on labour market systems (LMIS), the ILO’s Decent Work Indicators (DWIs) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
