National Tripartite Agreement on Employment and Jobs in Ukraine

A National Tripartite Agreement on Employment and Jobs to realize people’s right to decent work was signed in Ukraine on the 1st of June 2012. This agreement has been developed based on the ILO Global Jobs Pact aimed at helping countries recover from the crisis.

Create new decent jobs, increase the employment rate, facilitate access to the labour market for youth are joint challenges for the government and the social partners, employers and trade unions in Ukraine - said Mr. Serhii Tyhipko, Vice-Prime Minister of  Ukraine, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine at the signing ceremony in Kyiv, Ukraine. The agreement was also signed by Mr. Yuriy Kulyk on behalf of Joint Representative Body of All-Ukrainian Trade Unions and Trade Union Associations and Mr. Dmytro Firtash – on behalf of the Joint Representative Body of the Employers at National Level.

“We are joining efforts with the social partners in order to improve people’s lives. First of all it can be achieved by creating new, decent, well-paid jobs”, - Serhii Tyhipko emphasized.

He also pointed out that the agreement is signed for a period of five years and provides 17 concrete initiatives and directions for its implementation. It will improve the situation of labour market, promote wage increase and professional development of workers. The Vice-Prime Minister particularly highlighted the increase of the employment rate from 59.2 per cent to 64.3 per cent as the expected outcome. Mr. Tyhipko, Mr. Firtash and Mr. Kulyk stressed that this Agreement will significantly strengthen the cooperation between the government and the social partners, aimed at building a competitive Ukraine based on decent work.
