Press release | Bangkok, Thailand | 07 April 2011

BANGKOK (ILO News) – The International Labour Office (ILO) is launching a book analysing the causes and consequences of the global economic and jobs crises and offering policy responses for both developing and developed countries.

The book – From the Great Recession to labour market recovery: Issues, evidence and policy options – presents a global overview of different aspects of the crisis, from the pre-crisis period to the unemployment and social impacts of the recession to the macroeconomic stimulus and labour market policies adopted by various governments.

This in-depth review is edited by Iyanatul Islam and Sher Verick – senior economists at the ILO’s Employment Sector – and draws on research by current and former ILO experts.

The book, which is jointly published with Palgrave Macmillan, will be launched on April 7 at a press conference at the ILO Headquarters in Geneva.
