During the meeting they discussed Thailand's progress towards a decent work country programme. In particular they focussed on issues related to labour migration and child labour, and the expansion of social protection. Mr Ryder also encouraged the Government to ratify ILO Conventions concerning freedom of association and collective bargaining.This is Mr Ryder’s first trip to Asia since he took up the post of Director-General in October 2012. He will be in Thailand until Sunday December 16th when he will travel on to the Philippines. The ILO is the UN specialized agency that deals with work and workplace-related issues.
