  1. Training on Accident Investigation for Labour Inspectors and Regional Managers

    21 - 23 March 2018

    The ILO, with the support of the US Department of Labor is implementing two projects that intend to contribute to improving government’s capacity to improve compliance to labour laws including occupational safety and health standards. One project is the Building the Capacity of the Philippines’ Labour Inspectorate which aims to contribute to improving the effectiveness of labour inspection through the development and implementation of relevant training programmes, that would equip them in the conduct of routine and specialized inspections, including workplace accident investigation. The other project is the SafeYouth@Work Project which aims to improve the working conditions of workers aged 15-24 years and develop a culture of prevention.

  1. SEA Fisheries Project: Research Focus Group Discussions-Manila

    22 - 23 February 2018

    ILO is conducting a study that will assess the national regulatory framework on labour protections in fisheries in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines in terms of its jurisdiction and responsibilities under the laws of the sea as a flag State, port State, coastal State, as well as a source State for migrant labour to support the ratification of C188 and P029 in Southeast Asia.

  2. Capacity Building Workshop on Strategic Compliance in Visayas Region

    22 - 23 February 2018

    The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has implemented reforms to improve its labour inspectorate system, in response to a 2009 ILO Technical Audit of the Philippines Labour Inspectorate which DOLE requested. Reforms started with the adoption of the Rules on the Labour Laws Compliance System (LLCS) which introduced more active engagement of workers and employers at the enterprise level during inspection, and sought to integrate a developmental approach to labour inspection.

  3. Towards child labour free Sri Lanka

    19 February 2018

    A workshop for Deputy Commissioners of Labour and Assistant Commissioners of Labour on guidelines on the child labour free zone model to replicate the model in other 24 districts.

  4. Capacity Building Workshop on Strategic Compliance in Luzon

    19 - 20 February 2018

    Given the need to orient social partners on the new inspection rules, and the need to help them develop strategic compliance campaign interventions, it was proposed that the ILO Building the Capacity of the Philippine Labour Inspectorate Project to support the regional capacity building workshop for social partners on strategic compliance within the first quarter of 2018.

  5. The importance of effective OSH in TVET sector to improve quality of Skills training

    ILO SKILLED Project jointly with National Institute of Occupational safety and Health (NIOSH) is planning to have a 01-day workshop on the theme “The importance of effective OSH in TVET sector to improve quality of Skills training “

  6. TRIANGLE in ASEAN Myanmar Project Advisory Committee Meeting

    15 February 2018

    TRIANGLE in ASEAN has been operational in Myanmar since September 2013. To establish a governance body for the programme’s activities, a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) was organized which meets on an annual basis.

  7. LISA integrated with Child Labour monitoring module

    14 - 19 February 2018

    A series of training sessions will be carried out at the Department of Labour to enable effective monitoring of child labor related complaints and related inspections

  8. Tripartite Validation Workshop on Green Philippine Employment Projection Model (Green PEPM)

    12 February 2018

    The ILO, in collaboration with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) developed the Green Philippine Employment Projection Model (Green PEPM).

  9. The Meeting for the Development of the Workplan to Implement the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) - Malaysia Trade Union Congress (MTUC) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

    The MOU aims on increasing protection of Vietnamese migrant workers in Malaysia

  10. Launch of the Anthology of Stories - FAIR Perspective: Stories of Filipino migrant workers in the media

    8 - 9 February 2018

    The Integrated Programe on Fair Recruitment (FAIR project) will conduct the following activities with the implementing partner, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP): Lecture series on media glossary on labour migration; Breakfast with editors; Launch of Anthology of stories on labour migration.

  11. Improvement of Working Condition and Occupational Safety and Health for Workers in Oil Palm Plantation in Indonesia

    7 - 8 February 2018

    With the support of the Government of Indonesia and the social partners, the ILO undertook a diagnostic process on working conditions in the palm oil sector in 2015. Based on the results of the diagnostic process, discussed in a tripartite setting in August 2015, the constituents agreed on a national plan of action on the promotion of decent work on oil palm plantations.

  12. Competency-based qualification framework institutionalised further into national skills system

    7 February 2018

    The ILO is supporting Government of Bangladesh efforts to further institutionalise the National Technical and Vocational Qualification Framework (NTVQF) in its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.

  13. Launch of the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) in Asia and the Pacific

    1 February 2018

    To mark the closing of the Women & the Future of Work in Asia and the Pacific Conference, the ILO, UN Women and the OECD will be launching the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) in the region.

    Every day, people die as a result of occupational accidents or work-related diseases – more than 2.78 million deaths per year. Additionally, there are some 374 million non-fatal work-related injuries and illnesses each year, many of these resulting in extended absences from work.

  2. Regional Conference on Women and the Future of Work in Asia and the Pacific

    31 January - 1 February 2018

    What is the future of work that we want? How fair can we all make the future of work? How can we shape, manage and encourage change so that women have an equal stake in the world of work? Leaders from across Asia and the Pacific - government, unions, business, and academia - highlighted the tools and policies needed to ensure that women have an equal share in the region’s economic potential.

  3. Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Good and Promising Practices and Lessons Learned to Promote Decent Work for Domestic Workers and to Eliminate Child Labour in Domestic Work

    23 - 25 January 2018

    Asia harbors 41 percent of the world domestic workers, equivalent to 21.5 million people aged 15 or above. The numbers are growing in many countries in the region. Many of these domestic workers are under 18 years old and the majority are girls.

  4. COLOMBO PROCESS Thematic Area Working Group Meeting: Building synergy between Skills and Qualification Recognition and Labour Market Analysis

    23 - 24 January 2018

    Recognizing the close linkage between the two thematic areas of Skills and Qualification Recognition and Labour Market Analysis , the two chairs for these Thematic Area Working Groups (TAWG), Sri Lanka and Thailand will co-host this combined meeting, which will serve as the second face-to-face meetings of the respective TAWGs. International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will co-organize this event with the financial assistance from the SDC.

  6. Tripartite Consultation workshop on Protocol 29

    19 January 2018

    A tripartite consultation will be held in Colombo to discuss the preliminary findings of a “Gap analysis Report on National legislation and ILO Protocol on Forced Labour” and to identify major changes required under 3P’s (protection, prosecution and prevention) to pave the way towards ratification of the Protocol on Forced Labour before the end of year 2018.
