  1. Workshop on Economic and Productive Employment Diagnostic in East Java

    4 - 5 April 2011

    The workshop is amed to build capacity in employment diagnostic analysis among the ILO constituents and to reach a shared understanding of the nature of the main constraints and challenges to productive employment generation in East Java as a basis for a more coherent policy making at the provincial level.

  2. Provincial knowledge sharing workshop on successful strategies for women’s entrepreneurship development in Phu Tho Province

    This workshop on successful strategies for women’s entrepreneurship development is organized by VCCI-VWEC, VWU and ILO-WEDGE with a view to take stock of achievements, progress and challenges, and to identify good practices, measures and mechanisms for wider application in the future.

  4. Promoting Inclusive Vocational Education and Training in the Asian Region – Opening Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities

    29 - 31 March 2011

    The International Labour Organization is organizing a tripartite-plus regional conference on ‘Promoting inclusive vocational education and training in the Asian Region’ in Bangkok, Thailand, 29-31 March, 2011.The conference will take place in the framework of the project “Promoting Decent Work for People with Disabilities through Disability Inclusion Services -INCLUDE”, funded by the Government of Ireland. The conference will also contribute to the objectives and activities of the 3rd Asia Pacific Decade on the rights of persons with disabilities, to the implementation of ILO Convention No. 159 concerning Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Disabled Persons, and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

  5. Refresher training on gender equality and WED for SMEPDO in Lao PDR

    The Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion and Development Office under the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce is holding a one-day refresher training on gender equality and women’s entrepreneurship development, with technical and financial assistance from the ILO’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Development and Gender Equality Project. The training is intended to reaffirm the commitment and strengthen the capacity of SMEPDO staff to recognize and address gender concerns in their internal and external operations, with special focus on addressing the gender needs of women entrepreneurs.

  6. Training on OSH Improvement for Community Owned Plantation in Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatera

    22 - 23 March 2011

    The presence of children working under hazardous conditions in the commercial plantation sector led the ILO to design a programme targeting elimination of child labour in this sector. Findings of the ILO’s OSH assessment in plantation in year 2009 shows that the working conditions of the workplaces in this sector are poor. A number of direct and indirect risks and hazards have been identified, including falling from high place; insect bites; and chemical substances.

  7. Internal review regarding gender sensitivity in Cooperative Alliance of Quang Nam province

    21 - 25 March 2011

    The FAMOS check aims to promote internal learning, and identify good practices and gaps regarding gender mainstreaming and provision of services to women entrepreneurs within the cooperative alliance of Quang Nam province.

  8. National knowledge sharing workshop on successful strategies for women’s entrepreneurship development

  9. First ILO Green Jobs Awareness Raising Workshop

    The workshop was part of the ILO’s broader capacity building of ILO constituents and stakeholders on the new DWCP 2011-2015.

  10. MTUC/ILO National Workshop on Labour Law Amendments in Malaysia

    16 - 18 March 2011

    The workshop is to review the three Acts, such as the Employment Act, the Industrial Relations Act and the Trade Union Act, with the participating union leaders representing different sectors whether regulations undermine labour rights and trade union rights. It intends to summarise the MTUC stand on those regulations, undermining labour rights and trade union rights and develop a MTUC position which would be served as a policy paper for forthcoming tripartite discussions on the labour law amendment.

  11. Stakeholder Workshop on Improving the Prevention and Health Treatment Access for Indonesian Prospective/Migrant Workers

    16 - 17 March 2011

    HIV and AIDS case findings in Indonesian migrant workers are increasing. The Ministry of Health reported in December 2010 that the AIDS cases have reached 24.131 cases. Meanwhile, a report from Caring for Migrant Workers, an NGO dealing with the health issues of deported migrant workers from Malaysia, revealed that during 2010 they had taken care of more than 50 AIDS cases of deported Indonesian migrant workers. The report shows evidence that HIV and AIDS for Indonesian migrant workers should be seriously handled.

  12. Improving Vocational and Life Skills of Ex-Child Labourers and at Risk Children Aged 15 to 17 Years - Second Batch

    14 March - 29 April 2011

    In an attempt to improve the vocational and life skills of the children, and in collaboration with the International Garment Training Centre (IGTC), ILO-IPEC provides vocational and life skill training for 30 ex child laborers and at risk children. The vocational training to be provided is sewing operator training for which there is a market in the garment industry in Indonesia. Textile and garments are among the major contributors to the Indonesia’s exporting industries.

  13. ToT on SIYB for Officers of Employment Development and Expansion Center, Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration

    Recently, the Government of Indonesia has committed to revitalize the entrepreneurship as a strategy in employment creation. It clearly manifested among the priorities in the Medium Term Development Planning (RPJMN 2010-2014) which emphasizes the importance of liven up entrepreneurship and competitiveness. The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (MOMT) as one of responsible ministries in developing human resources and employment creation demonstrates a strong interest in establishing entrepreneurship education and trainings.

  14. Roundtable Discussion and Project Advisory Committee Meeting on Green Jobs Initiative

    10 March 2011

    The roundtable discussion presented the ILO’s Green Jobs Initiative and discussed green jobs activities in the Philippines, including the role of government, employers’ and workers organizations. The roundtable discussion was followed by a Project Advisory Committee meeting, whose agenda were devoted entirely on the launching of the Green Jobs in Asia Project.

  15. Workshop on Promoting Workplace Cooperation and Upgrading Conciliation and Mediation Skills

    10 - 12 March 2011

    In Sri Lanka, the dispute settlement machinery has to meet the challenges of effective disposal of disputes pending before conciliators. In order to enhance the conciliation skills of conciliators and create awareness on prevention of disputes through workplace cooperation, a workshop is organized for BOI and Ministry of Labour officials.

  16. GET Ahead trainers’ alumni meeting in Cambodia

    10 - 11 March 2011

    A two-day networking and knowledge-sharing meeting for experienced trainers who regularly use the GET Ahead training methodology for the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship development in Cambodia.

    9 March 2011

    The summit aims to integrate local economic development in the plans and programmes of Masbate. The summit is part of the MDG-F Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth initiative, a programme designed to improve access to decent work for poor, young men and women, and to improve policy coherence and implementation in relation to young people, employment and migration, through greater participation.

  19. Promoting Gender Equality in Civil Service of Bangladesh

    As a part of the Project initiatives of “Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing Violence against Women at Workplace” The 3rd consultation workshop on “Promoting Gender Equality in Civil Service of Bangladesh” was held at CIRDAP auditorium on 3rd March 2011, organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and supported by the ILO.
