    A 3-day consultation meeting co-organized by the ILO/IPEC project "Addressing child labour in the shrimp and seafood processing areas in Thailand" and the Department of Labour Protection of the Ministry of Labour on issues concerning labour administration and inspection needs.

  3. ILO/Trade Union National Conference on current employment contract practices and the need for its changes

    27 - 28 June 2012

    The Conference was attended by more than 90 unionists from the confederations and trade unions in the four provinces, CAMFEBA, MoLVT, the Arbitration Council, and ILO. It aimed to address workers' deep concerns on the widespread use of Fixed Duration Contracts (FDC) in Cambodia undermining labour rights and trade union rights; to strengthen union unity and solidarity among local, provincial and national unions for bringing changes in the system; to adopt a plan of action for a nationwide campaign for safer employment conditions and relations.

  4. World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) Philippines Celebration 2012

    26 June 2012

    The Philippines will celebrate the World Day Against Child Labour on 26 June this year by presenting to the public the preliminary results of the 2011 Survey on Children done by the National Statistics Office (NSO). This comes 10 years after the last survey done in 2001 which revealed that there were 4.2 million working children, 2.4 million of which were into child labour because of their exposure to hazardous conditions. After the NSO presents the 2011 Survey, a national campaign dubbed “Batang Malaya: A Child Labour-Free Philippines” will be launched by the National Child Labor Committee. The President of the Philippines has been invited to the event as well as key partners in the fight to eliminate child labour in the country and around 100 child labourers. More than 300 participants are expected to attend the activity which will be held at Fun Ranch, a play area for children.

  5. Second Policy Working Group Meeting : Trade and Employment in Agriculture

    The second meeting of the Policy Working Group of Assessing and Addressing the Effects of Trade on Employment (ETE) project was held on 24 June at Conference Room, Chillies. The theme of the meeting was Trade and Employment in Agriculture.

  6. Situation analysis of Female Migrants and Domestic Workers

    21 June 2012

    Under the UNJP-VAW programme, the Ministry of Labour and Employment and ILO’s joint project “Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing VAW at Workplace” organized the Workshop on Situation Analysis of Female Migrants and Domestic Workers. The programme was held on June 21, 2012 at the Chamber Building of Bangladesh Employers Federation located in Dhaka.

  7. Commemorating the World Day Against Child Labour 2012 in Indonesia

    The ILO through its Child Labour and Education Project will conduct a series of activities to commemorate the World Day at the national level in Indonesia with a variety of activities throughout June 2012.

  9. Workers' Voices in the Thai Shrimp and Seafood Processing Sector Consultation Meeting

    17 June 2012

    A one day meeting with representatives of the trade unions from the fishing, shrimp and seafood processing to discuss working conditions and workers' welfare in the sector. Organized by the ILO-IPEC initiative "Addressing Child Labour in the Shrimp and Seafood Processing Areas in Thailand".

  10. Letter of Agreement between IOM and ILO for the Project “Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh”

    The IOM and ILO signed a letter of agreement to strengthen the implementation of the Project “Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh” and specifically to support Improved Migration Management and Services.

  11. Aung San Suu Kyi's visit to ILO

    14 June 2012

    Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, Chairperson of the National League for Democracy and Member of Parliament in Myanmar, will address the International Labour Conference at the Palais des Nations and visit the ILO in Geneva.

  12. Radio Programme in Afghanistan for World Day against Child Labour

    12 June 2012

    To mark World Day against Child Labour, Afghan children and youth produced three 10-minute radio programmes on child labour in Afghanistan. The programmes were conceptualized, developed and finalized by a team comprising children and youth, under consultation and technical assistance of the ILO. They were broadcasted on 12 June on two national radio stations.

  13. World Day Against Child Labour

    Thai Frozen Foods Association members commit to the elimination of child labour in the industry. The association will launch a policy aimed to encourage responsible business practices and promote conditions of work that provide a safe and motivating working environment that is free of child labour and uphold and promote national labour laws and relevant international labour standards. The launch will be on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour which this year focuses on Human Rights and Social Justice. Let's end Child Labour!

  15. Employer's Awareness Campaign and Quiz questions Against Child Labour, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

    CAMFEBA organized an Awareness Campaign on 11 June 2012 on the theme “Awareness Campaign and Quiz questions Against Child Labour. This event was organized in a GMAC Garment factory "Meng Heang", participated by 500 workers, representative of Department of Child Labour Labour of MLVT and ILO IPEC. A group comedy performance has been performed with a story call “Child Work and Child Labour”.

  16. Cycling bicycle campaign against child labour on the street of Phnom Penh, Cambodia

    The Inter-Trade Union Against Child Labour consisted of 5 confederations and 2 Non-Affiliate Federation organized Cycling bicycle campaign on 10 June 2012 on the theme “Cycling bicycle against child labour on the street in Phnom Penh City, participated by 105 people with bicycles”. This campaign participated and supported by ILO IPEC and World Vision Cambodia.

  17. Observing the World Day Against Child Labour 2012 in Kandal province, Cambodia.

    9 June 2012

    Observing the World Day Against Child Labour: “ Human Rights and Social Justice: Let’s End Child Labour” was organized on 09 June 2012 at Chheu Team primary school in Mok Kampul district of Kandal province. Approximately of 50 adults of teachers, provincial department of labour and vocational training, district department of education, representative of ILO IPEC, local authorities at village, commune and district levels, and about 700 children participated in the event.

  18. World Day Against Child Labour 2012: Human rights and Social Justice… Let’s End Child Labour

    Ministry of Labour and Employment took the lead to observe World Day against child Labour 2012 in collaboration with ILO, Trade Unions, UNICEF, Save the Children in Bangladesh, Manusher Jonno Foundation and Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum under the theme Human Rights and Social Justice… Let’s End Child Labour.
