  1. The Launch of the ILO’s Publication: “Trade and Employment: Country Report for Indonesia”

    Trade reforms and openness have a significant impact on employment, particularly in developing countries. As Indonesia's economy has become increasingly dependent on trade, the impact of trade on employment in Indonesia is a subject of great interest but also major concern for the country.

  2. Conciliation and Mediation of Labour Disputes

    1 - 5 July 2013

    The training course aims to develop participant' knowledge and understanding of consensus-building approaches to conflict management and dispute resolution.

  3. Intergovernmental regional seminar on promoting cooperation for safe migration and decent work

    1 - 2 July 2013

    The Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment (MEWOE) called upon the member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and the countries of destination to undertake a collective analysis of the issues that affect labour migration governance on 02 July 2013 at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel, Dhaka.

  4. Better Work shared learning seminar: new labour law update 2013

    The new Vietnam Labour Law, which includes many changes, has been officially in effect from 1st May 2013. To support factories in capturing these changes quickly in order to adjust their policies and internal regulations accordingly, Better Work Vietnam organizes shared learning seminars dedicated to the topic "New Labour Law Update 2013". The seminar will highlight the changes to the labour law related to the garment industry, initial implementation instruction, and best practice examples of factories that have begun applying the new law.

  1. Technical preparation workshop for intergovernmental regional seminar

    The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare an overseas Employment (MEWOE) of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has invited the member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), some countries of destination, East Asian countries and the SAARC Secretariat in Dhaka from 01-02 July 2013 to participate in an intergovernmental regional seminar for promoting cooperation for safe migration and decent work.

  2. Quang Nam villages to offer community-based tourism services

    23 June 2013

    Two villages in Quang Nam Province - Bho Hoong and Droong will launch their community-based tourism services on 23 June on the occasion of the provincial Heritage Festival 2013. Tourism activities will help villagers have new sources of income and reduce poverty.

    On the occasion of the Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2013, a tourism trade fair will be held in An Hoi sculpture garden in the ancient town of Hoi An

  4. National Trainers' Training on Decent Work for Domestic Workers

    18 - 20 June 2013

    One of the objectives of the training course is to build and develop the capacity of leaders, organizers and trainers of domestic workers' organizations and trade unions on the issue of domestic work, in particular organizing of domestic workers and promoting their right to decent work.

  5. Planning Session of Technical Working Group-All Workers Towards Formulation of Roadmap for Domestic Workers for 2013-2017

    17 - 18 June 2013

    The objectives of this planning session were to: (a) formulate a unified strategy for organizing domestic workers among trade unions (common vision, principles, target objectives, critical activities; and (b) establish lines of coordination for service delivery and information sharing among domestic workers and trade unions.

  6. Training for Trade Unions in International and National Labour Migration Regimes and Policy Frameworks

    On the 15 June 2013, the Labour Migration Project, conducted a day-long training in International and National Labour Migration Regimes and Policy Frameworks for the trade union members of the National Coordination Committee for Worker’s Education (NCCWE)

  7. World Day against Child Labour - Child Labour Free Zone in Ratnapura

    12 June 2013

    The District Secretary and the Administration of Ratnapura, assisted by the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations, with technical and financial support from the ILO embarked on a journey that will make the district of Ratnapura officially free of Child Labour by June 2016.

  8. World Day against Child Labour 2013 Meeting

    11 June 2013

    The meeting will be organized in Hanoi to mark the World Day against Child Labour (12 June), themed "No to Child Labour in Domestic Work" this year. A play will be shown afterwards at the event.

  9. Commemorating the World Day Against Child Labour 2013 in Indonesia

    10 - 17 June 2013

    The ILO through its Decent Work for Domestic Workers to End Child Domestic Work (PROMOTE) Project, funded by the United States Department of Labour (USDOL), and the Child Labour and Education Project, funded by the Government of Netherlands, will conduct a series of activities to commemorate the World Day at the national level in Indonesia.

  10. Training on International Labour Standards, Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining in the Philippines (Mindanao)

    4 - 5 June 2013

    With the continuing collaborative efforts of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to implement the technical cooperation programme resulting from the ILO High Level Mission to the Philippines, DOLE officials and personnel will attend and participate in this area-wide training to be conducted in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

  11. IR project strategic planning meeting

    3 - 4 June 2013

    The IR project is organizing the strategic planning meeting on 3-4 June 2013 to have in-dept discussions on some key issues and challenges in the industrial relations development as well as to identify key tasks to be addressed in the Project under the context of new Labour Code and Trade Union Law. It is also an occasion for planning for Project activities in the second half of 2013.

    An industrial relations conference will be organised in Hanoi on 31 May 2013 in conjunction with the launching of the second phase IR Project

  2. Training course on “Promoting green jobs policies: employment potential and skill needs in a greener economy”

    31 May 2013

    Organized by the International Training Centre, ILO, the training shall tackles challenges and opportunities in the promotion of green jobs. Special attention will be given to the assessment of employment potential and the analysis of skill needs.

  3. MOU signing between the ILO and the Government of Bangladesh

    30 May 2013

    The Government of Bangladesh signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on 30 May, 2013 to assist implementation of the Bangladesh country component of the Project entitled Way out of Informality: Facilitating Formalisation of Informal Economy in South Asia for a period of of 5-years (2012-2016). Mr. Md. Ashadul Islam, Additional Secretary (UN, Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh and Mr. Srinivas Reddy, Director, ILO Country Office for Bangladesh signed the MOU.

  4. Integrating social policies and the delivery of social protection floors in Cambodia - discussed at a workshop

    29 - 31 May 2013

    Sharing models and innovative ideas for implementing a national social protection strategy in Cambodia and developing nationally defined social protection floors in ASEAN were the focus of a workshop held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, from 29 to 31 May 2013. The technical workshop on “Integrating Social Policies and the Delivery of Social Protection Floors (SPF)” was co-organized by the Royal Government of Cambodia and the ILO.

  5. Rural Youth Employment Forum

    28 May 2013

    The Youth Employment Forum in Bac Kan provides an opportunity for young people to express their aspiration, thoughts and needs related to education and employment in the countryside in Viet Nam and share their views and suggestions with policy makers and other stakeholders.
