  2. Task Force on ASEAN Migrant Workers: Post-6th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour GMS Consultation on good practice to improve Complaint Mechanism

    15 - 16 August 2014

    The TFAMW organized the GMS consultation to review, discuss and exchange good practices among civil society stakeholders on ways to effective implement and improve existing complaint mechanisms. The GMS Consultation Workshop facilitated the documentation of forms and procedures in use to file complaints, claims and appeals against abuses and discrimination during the full cycle of migration. The full cycle of migration includes pre-departure – recruitment agencies, training, fees paid for the legal processing to work overseas; post-arrival – working and living conditions, terms of employment, and returning – unfair dismissals, non-payment of due wages and other claims.

  3. Train the Trainers workshop for Senior Master Trainers on the Essentials of Occupational Safety and Health in Ready-Made Garment Sector

    11 August 2014

    Train the Trainers workshop for Senior Master Trainers aims to create better understanding of OSH among employers of Ready-Made Garment (RMG) Sector, mid and senior level management RMG factories, fire and safety instructors are attending a four day training programme on OSH.

  4. ILO Regional Skills Programme: Regional training on employment services

    11 - 15 August 2014

    This workshop is designed to provide opportunities for participating countries to improve their knowledge and strengthen their capacities on the operations and functioning of their public employment services as well as to expand their network to provide jobseekers with better opportunities for domestic and overseas employment.

  5. Training on the Role and Responsibility of Government Officials in Promoting Ethical Recruitment Practices

    7 - 8 August 2014

    A two-day training programme on the roles and responsibilities of migration relevant government officials in the promotion of ethical recruitment for migrant workers, and health professionals in particular for Philippines, India and Viet Nam migration government officials was conducted in India.

    The current event is organized as follow-up to the 2012 meeting. It will provide an opportunity to take stock on the progress towards established goals, as well as re-affirm priorities and/or establish new priorities. It will also provide an opportunity to examine what works and what does not work with regard to knowledge sharing.

  3. Employment Projections and Labour Market Information: Technical Review and Validation Workshop

    The objective of inclusive and sustainable job-rich growth in Indonesia is outlined in the Indonesian Government's commitment to "pro-jobs" and "pro-poor" growth within its development agenda. To support the realization of job rich growth, it is important that medium term development strategies plan for job creation. Using models to establish employment projections are an important part of planning for employment.

  4. Workshop on labour rights awareness in the leather sector

    Over 30 participants form the leather sector participated in a day long workshop aimed at designing education programme for the workers of the sector. The workshop was jointly organized by the Promoting Fundamental Rights and Labour Relations in Export Oriented Industries (FRLR) project of International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Tannery Workers Union.

  5. ILO's participation in the 20th International AIDS Conference

    20 - 24 July 2014

    The ILO is participating in AIDS2014, which is expected to gather over 10,000 delegates (including policy makers, programme implementers, practitioners, activists, scientists, journalists, people living with HIV) from nearly 200 countries on the theme: Stepping up the pace. The ILO and its partners will highlight the contribution of the world of work to the AIDS response through various events and activities held from 20 to 24 July in Melbourne, Australia.

  6. Media Training for Disabled People’s Organizations

    17 - 18 July 2014

    The role of media is crucial in shaping people’s mindset about disability and to help addressing stereotypes and misconception about disability. Media also serves as the main source of information for services and opportunities and to provide useful insights and understanding of current events and could help ensuring that the disability issues are on the public agenda. Therefore, involving media in the advocacy works is crucial.

  7. Launch of Roads for Development Movies

    16 July 2014

    The launch of the two movies of Roads for Development Programme (R4D) (30 and 3 minutes long) is aimed to showcase the work and the impact of R4D programme as the leading rural roads program in Timor-Leste.

  8. Training on Fostering the Social and Professional Reintegration of Return Migrants

    An ILO training course providing advanced knowledge with which to foster the contribution to development of return migrants, and offering ground-breaking information about their patterns of social and professional reintegration.

  10. National Consultative Conference with Trade Unions in India

    Ms. Maria Helena Andre the Director of Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) Geneva will be visiting India in the second week of July 2014. During her visit, a national consultative conference with the Central Trade Unions is India is organized on 10th July 2014.

  11. ASEAN regional integration: challenges and opportunities, a senior executive seminar

    9 - 10 July 2014

    The seminar aims to facilitate an understanding of the challenges and opportunities ASEAN Members States will face in regulating labour migration in the context of regional integration, drawing where appropriate, on the experience of regional harmonization in the European Union.

  12. Sensitization Workshop on Employment Social Security Programme

    7 - 8 July 2014

    The commitment to social protection is reflected in the Indonesian constitution (1945) that translated to the National Social Security Law (Law No. 40/ 2004) and the Law on Social Security Providers (Law No.24/ 2011) as well as, recurrent at the Tripartite Indonesian Job Pacts (2011-2014) adopting the recommendation for ratification the ILO Convention 102 on Minimum Standard of Social Security and universal coverage for social security.

  13. ASEAN Labour Inspection Conference 2014

    3 - 4 July 2014

    It is the succeeding event to three previous conferences that tackled and provided recommendations on national and ASEAN-level issues which included developing new methods and tools for improving labour inspection effectiveness, strengthening enforcement of national safety and health laws, and concerns surrounding labour migration, child labour, and the agricultural sector.

    The increasing participation of national workers in the formal sectors of the economy generates the necessity to hire foreign workers to perform domestic chores.
