  1. Fourth Tripartite Regional Seminar on Industrial Relations in the ASEAN Region: "Setting Minimum Wage and Wage Guidelines: Role of Tripartite Partners and Impact on Industrial Relations"

    29 February - 1 March 2012

    This tripartite regional seminar, organized by the ILO with the support of the Ministry of Labour of Thailand and the ASEAN Secretariat, under the theme "Setting Minimum Wage and Wage Guidelines: Role of Tripartite Partners and Impact on Industrial Relations", aims to provide opportunities for ASEAN member states (tripartite) to discuss and share experiences on different mechanisms/processes in setting national minimum wage as well as wage guidelines; and role of tripartite partners in the context of good industrial relations practices. The seminar is funded by the ILO/Japan Multi-bilateral Programme through its ASEAN-ILO/Japan Industrial Relations for ASEAN Integration project.

  1. Research on occupational safety and health for migrant workers in five Asia and the Pacific countries: Australia, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand

    This working paper presents trends and facts relevant to the five target countries’ OSH environments for migrant workers, with the long term aim of raising awareness of workplace safety for migrant labour forces and instilling the significance of sound OSH practices at work in all stakeholders, including governments, employers, workers and NGOs.

  3. New ILO survey reveals limited public support for migrant workers' rights in Asia

    There is limited support for the rights of migrant workers among the public according to a new multi-country study released by the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. In general the report reveals higher levels of public support for migrant workers, in terms of their rights and their contribution, in Singapore and South Korea than in Malaysia and Thailand.

  1. Singapore, First Asian country to ratify the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006)

    Singapore has ratified the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) with the full support of tripartite partners – the seafarer unions and the National Trades Union Congress, as well as the maritime industry and the Singapore National Employers Federation.

  2. ILO & Singapore Ministry of Manpower sign partnership agreement to improve labour and workplace practices

    The ILO and the Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) have signed a two-year Partnership Agreement to improve human resource development and workplace practices in the ASEAN region.

  1. Singapore ratifies ILO Tripartite Consultation (International Labour Standards) Convention, 1976 (No. 144)

    The ILO Director-General welcomed the ratification of "this important governance instrument by the Government of Singapore which underpins practices in the area of tripartism and social dialogue in respect of international labour standards and labour legislation."
