    ILO organized a roundtable meeting on ‘Safety, protection and rights of women construction workers in Thailand” to identify possible intervention to ensure equal and fair pay, better living conditions, safety and protection of women migrant construction workers.

    The 12th AFML will be held on 25-26 September 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. It will be hosted by the Government of Thailand as the current chair of the ASEAN and the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers (ACMW).

    18 - 19 September 2019

    With the continued support from Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the ASEAN Secretariat, this Tripartite Regional Seminar aims to provide opportunities for governments, workers and employers of ASEAN member countries to discuss the issues concerning industrial relations, including skills policies and methodologies developments. Sharing knowledge and experience of each member state for better industrial relations and strengthened social dialogue would be an important part of the discussion.

  4. The 5th Regional Skills Technical Working Group Meeting Enhancing Human Resources Development in ASEAN: Progress of MRAs and MRS

    12 - 13 September 2019

    The Regional Skills Technical Working Group was established in 2014, functioning primarily as a technical level working group that supports all skills-related activities of the ILO including the mutual recognition of skills (MRS) in ASEAN. The Regional Skills Technical Working Group meet annually, with an aim to facilitate coordination and cooperation among the ASEAN Members States, together with the ASEAN Secretariat, in moving forward the on-going MRS efforts within the ASEAN. The 5th Regional Skills Technical Working Group Meeting is scheduled for 12-13 September 2019 in Hanoi, Viet Nam. This meeting would be the first forum where discussions on the progress on the implementation of both the mutual recognition arrangements (MRA) and MRS will be made, along with updates on the progress of the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Frameworks.

    27 - 28 August 2019

    This meeting discusses international labour migration data statistics and brings together representatives from national governments, the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Statistics, and ILO.

  2. Regional Planning Meeting for Promoting ASEAN Women Migrant Workers’ Rights through Organizing

    The report centres women migrant workers' freedom of association and collective bargaining, identifies the challenges to their organizing, and puts forward recommendations to strengthen women migrant workers' leadership and participation in labour organizations.

  3. Changing Attitudes and Behaviour Towards Women Migrant Workers in ASEAN: Technical Regional Meeting

    This report sets out key areas of learning from the meeting, analyses why communication can be an effective tool for changing attitudes and behaviours, and explores some tools and approaches used to enhance communication for behavioural change.
