More than 30 countries in Asia and the Pacific are members of the ILO. The ILO covers one of the most diverse regions of the world – ethnically, culturally, religiously and economically. The population of more than 3.7 billion people includes some of the wealthiest countries on earth as well as two-thirds of the world’s poor.
The Regional Office in Bangkok supports work in more than 30 countries, from Afghanistan to the Pacific Islands and from Mongolia to New Zealand. There are also three Subregional offices in the region, and a number of country offices; in Beijing, Colombo, Dhaka, Hanoi, Islamabad, Jakarta, Kathmandu, Suva and Tokyo. There are also liaison or project offices in Dili, Kabul, Phnom Penh, Ulaanbaatar, Vientiane and Yangon.
