Thirty-five countries in Asia and the Pacific, with a total population of more than 3.7 billion, are members of the ILO. The region is extremely diverse – ethnically, culturally, religiously and economically – and includes some of the wealthiest countries on earth as well as two-thirds of the world’s poor.
The Regional Office in Bangkok supports work across the region, from Afghanistan to the Pacific Islands and from Mongolia to New Zealand. There are two Decent Work Technical Support Teams, in Bangkok and New Delhi, and a number of country offices in Bangkok, Beijing, Colombo, Dhaka, Hanoi, Islamabad, Jakarta, Kathmandu, Manila, New Delhi, Suva and Tokyo. There are also liaison or project offices in Dili, Kabul, Phnom Penh, Ulaanbaatar, Vientiane and Yangon.
