They describe good practice in developing RMCS. The guidelines include information on the purpose of competency standards, the process used to develop such standards, and approaches to assessment.

  2. Factors affecting women’s labour force participation in Sri Lanka

    Female labour force participation rate in Sri Lanka has remained at a low rate, between 30–35 per cent in the past two decades, which is surprising given the consistently high educational attainment levels and other social indicators of women in the country. While research has focused on the supply-side factors that have kept female labour force participation rate at low levels, data on demand-side constraints is sparse. This study aims to identify those demand-side constraints through direct data from key players.

  3. Closing Ceremony of One UN Project: ‘Livelihood restoration, protection and sustainable empowerment of vulnerable peasant communities in the Sindh Province (LRP)’

    A One UN project implemented by ILO, FAO and UN WOMEN in 120 villages of rural Sindh showcased its achievements through a closeout event in Islamabad on July 1, 2016. Project supported 11800 insecure, unprotected and the most vulnerable families who have endured devastating floods of 2010, rebuild their lives and attained their Human Security.

  4. Regional Model Competency Standards: Mechanical services

    To help accelerate the improvement of training systems and the mutual recognition of skills, the ILO has developed, in consultation with employers, governments and workers, the Regional Model Competency Standards (RMCS). These have been developed in identified priority areas and are in a simplified format.

    The ILO Country Office for the Philippines (CO-Manila) has operated two economic and livelihood development projects in Mindanao on: (a) sustainable livelihoods for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Zamboanga City as part of the joint UN programme denominated “Increasing Public Confidence and Participation in Support of Implementation of the Bangsamoro Peace Agreement” funded by the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF); and (b) “Local Economic Development through Enlightened Governance and Grassroots Empowerment (PLEDGE)” financed by the multi-donor funded, World Bank-managed Mindanao Trust Fund (MTF) and being implemented through the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA).

  4. Second Workshop on the Development of a Comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (CMEP)

    The ENHANCE project conducts the second CMEP workshop in Ho Chi Minh City during the week of 18 – 22 July 2016 with the participation of about 34 representatives from MOLISA, VCCI, VCA, VGCL, USDOL, ILO and three project’s provinces.

  1. National Capacity-Building Workshop for Technical & Vocational Training Institutes in Pakistan

    Organized by the United Nations Department of Political Affairs Counter-Terrorism Centre in collaboration with the Pakistan Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP) with the technical support of the International Labour Organization in Pakistan, a National Capacity-Building Workshop for Technical and Vocation Training Institutes will be held. The objective of the training is to strengthen the expertise and capacity of TVET institutions in Pakistan to better cater for to the needs of semi- and unskilled labour in Pakistan.
