    The ILO in Sri Lanka through its Safe Labour Migration Project (Phase IV) supported by the Government of Switzerland, is collaborating with HELVETAS to capacitate state officials, trade unionists, and civil society partners engaged in migrant rights protection.

    A national consultation hosted by International Labour Organization (ILO) on "Role of intermediaries / subagents in the foreign employment recruitment process” at Islamabad, Pakistan to propose a set of policy recommendations including endorsement of national emigration and welfare labour policy.

  3. South Asia Qualifications Referencing Framework: Technical Meeting#2

    Under the auspices of GOALS (Governance of Labour Migration in South and South East Asia) ILO is assisting South Asian member states through a consultative process to develop and implement Regional Qualifications Framework. As part of this process, the Second Regional Technical Meeting of the initiative was organized 27-28 June 2022. This report is a documentation of the proceedings and outcomes of the Second Technical Meeting.

  4. High-level Dialogue on the New Regional Framework on Climate Mobility concludes

    The regional dialogue was facilitated through the PCCMHS programme led by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) alongside the International Labour Organization (ILO), Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS). The joint-agency PCCMHS programme is funded by the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security and the New Zealand Aid Programme.

  5. ILO supports the launch of Indonesia’s first Trade Unions’ Network in the Fishing Sector

    The 8.7 Accelerator Lab programme together with the Bureau of Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) supported the launch of a Trade Unions’ Network in the fishing sector aiming to foster a common voice between trade unions and to reinforce bilateral and tripartite social dialogue in the fishing sector.

  6. Trade union-led Migrant Worker Resource Centres in ASEAN and Jordan: Case studies for protecting and organizing migrant workers

    This paper features good approaches and innovations by trade union MRCs in five Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Cambodia, Indonesia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia and Thailand) as well as in Jordan. It highlights how the MRCs are useful and effective avenues in protecting the rights of migrant workers and eventually helping trade unions to organize them. The examples introduced in this paper can be replicated by trade unions that intend to launch campaigns to organize migrant workers.

  10. Migrant workers turned migrant volunteers to support their peers in their communities

    Migrant workers in Khao Yoi, Phetchabuti province improved their capacity to become migrant volunteers on health, interpretation and to assist in disseminating migrants’ rights and COVID-19 related information to migrant workers in their communities.
