    Colombo ILO News: International Labour Organization’s Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives conducted a two day training programme on mediation and conciliation for the ILO constituents on the 17th and 18th of September 2015 in Colombo.

  3. Employers’ 4th roundtable discussion on labour productivity at enterprise level, in Hanoi – 30 Oct 2015

    The 4th roundtable discussion of employers’ organizations on labour productivity at the workplace in Vietnam will be conducted to open a forum for targeted business associations to discuss and share the information and recommendations on productivity growth in conjunction with effective wage policy.

  4. VCCI Launching workshop focusing on social dialogue implementation in Dong Nai – 13 Nov 2015

    In Viet Nam, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Vietnam Cooperatives Alliance (VCA) are recognized by the government as representative organizations of employers in labour and employment policy. Currently, VCCI headquarter office is located in Hanoi and there are 8 other branches offices and representative offices in Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Vung Tau, Can Tho, and Ho Chi Minh City. The Launching Workshop of VCCI Pilot in Dong Nai was organized on 13 November 2015.

  5. Consultation workshop on social dialogue manual draft in Hanoi – 21 Jan 2016

    VCCI and VGCL conduct a joint paper named Social Dialogue Manual. When the final draft is available, a consultation workshop is organized to collect comments and ideas for finalizing this manual.

  6. Raising awareness workshop on ILO Convention 87, 98 and Declaration 1998 for key trade union leaders of VGCL, in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh – 27-28 Oct and 29-30 Oct 2015

    Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) requested ILO’s technical support for specific areas of VGCL’s work program in 2015 including two Workshop on Raising Awareness of Trade Union Leaders on ILO Declaration 1998, Conventions 87 and 98 for key trade union leaders in all National Industrial Unions and Provincial Federation of Labor throughout the country.

  7. Training courses on trade union organizing and membership development in association with ILO core conventions, in Ho Chi Minh and Hai Phong - 19-20 Nov and 27-28 Nov 2015

    The VGCL/ILO Pilot program is going to the last year of project cycle with a lot activities which have been carried out; The pilots 1 and pilot 2 have been finalized; Pilot 3 has been strongly pushing with major successes in some pilots while pilot 4 is facing with many difficulties in implementation. According to the TOR of the pilot initiatives, the meeting of all pilot implementing units will be organised on quarterly basis to review the work done and to plan for the next period. This time the Review Meeting of VGCL/ILO pilot program will be carried out from 14-16 January in Da Nang in conjunction with Signing Ceremony of the first MCBA of Tourism Enterprises in Da Nang. This is the important chance of sharing information, updating the progresses as well as agreeing on the plan of pilot implementation between Pilot Implementing Units in 5 provinces, VGCL and ILO for the last months of project cycle.

  9. Meetings of National Wage Council

    National Wage Council (NWC) in Vietnam were established in August 2013 on the basis of the revised Labour Code. The NWC has the mandate to deliberate on and produce recommendation on minimum wage adjustment for the Government’s consideration and decision. Clause 2, Article 91 of the revised Labour Code states: “Based on the minimum living needs of the employee and his/her family, social and economic conditions, and wage levels in the labour market, the Government shall announce the regional minimum wage on the basis of the recommendation of the National Wage Council”.

  10. Series of Rountable

    In recent years, those directly working or interested in the field of industrial relations has expanded in Vietnam, including policy and law makers, practitioners of tripartite partners at different levels, academics, and researchers. Each individual and organization in this field develop their own assets - that is the various knowledge, skills, information, documents, learning, and books on industrial relations in Vietnam as well as in the world. If these can be better connected, it will help form and also encourage a growth in, the resource of knowledge and information on industrial relations in Vietnam. This opportunity for sharing knowledge and learning will be one important contributing factor to the development of future industrial relations in Vietnam.
