    Food insecurity is one of the most significant development constraints in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Province of Indonesia. Food availability is significantly impacted by severe agro-climatic conditions and seasonality. Although the Government of NTT has been promoting agricultural production and has adopted protection measures for its farmers, the growth rate of the agriculture sector has still remained the lowest compared with trade and services.

  1. Inception workshop to launch the project “Livelihood restoration and protection and sustainable empowerment of vulnerable Hari communities in Sindh province”

    Officials of the Government of Sindh and UN and members of civil society participated in the inception workshop to mark the formal launching of this project. The project is funded by United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security with support from the Government of Japan and will be jointly implemented by the Government of Sindh, FAO, ILO and UNWOMEN.

    The Ambassador of New Zealand H.E. Tony Fautua and the Secretary of State for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector H.E. Veneranda Lemos, and Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Deputy Director of the International labour Organisation (ILO) Country Office for Indonesia and Timor-Leste today signed an agreement for New Zealand contribution of 3.9 million US Dollars to the Business Opportunities and Support Services Project (BOSS) Project, implemented by the (ILO) and the Instituto de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Empresarial (IADE).

    A report released today by the International Labour Organization (ILO) suggests that the Viet Nam Social Security Fund (VSS) could start having deficits by 2021 and experience depletion by 2034 if no reforms are made.

    This report outlines the process, outcome and future recommendations  for monitoring and evaluating the  application of the Vietnam Association of Manpower Supply (VAMAS) Code of  Conduct (COC‐VN). This is based on a  VAMAS report, but has been slightly adapted so as to serve as a reference for similar self‐regulation mechanisms that are being considered in a number  of other countries sending workers abroad.
