Under the project “Occupational Safety and Emergency Training of Syrian Young Workers” implemented by Gaziantep University with funding from the Embassy of Australia, lecturer Dr. Yusuf Yılmaz paid a visit on 18 June 2019 to the workshops at GESOB. Meeting with the beneficiaries of shoe-upping manual assembler, packaging and Turkish conversation workshops, Dr. Yılmaz provided information and answered questions on occupational safety and health.

Informative booklets in Arabic and Turkish on occupational safety and health were distributed to 60 beneficiaries including 37 Syrian, 16 Turkish and 7 Afghan citizens who participated in the courses.

The visit particularly focused on providing information on the effects of chemical products, occupational safety and first aid to Syrian workers under temporary protection; and beneficiary women stated that they would take the booklets home to ensure that their spouses would also be informed.

The visit concluded with a question and answer session.
