ANKARA – The International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Turkey organises training for the employees of stakeholder institutions in Turkey to share ILO’s experience on migration management, foreigners’ access to labour market and policy coherence.

The four-day training has started in Ankara, and is titled “Migration Management, Foreigners’ Access to Labour Market and Policy Coherence”. Organised regularly for two years to share ILO’s international experience with its stakeholder institutions in Turkey, the training is delivered by the ILO International Training Centre (ITC) and ILO experts.

Covering the ILO’s guidelines for labour market access by refugees and forcibly displaced persons, importance of formal work, ILO labour standards, human rights instruments and good practices, the training aims to strengthen the capacities of policy-makers and practitioners in these fields.

ILO ITC’s Labour Migration Expert Miriam Boudraa, Migration and Governance Expert Andrea Salvini and Labour Migration Expert Vincent Williams deliver the training to the officials from the Directorate-General for International Labour Force, Directorate for Guidance and Inspection, ISKUR and Social Security Institution of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services; the Directorate-General for Migration Management of the Ministry of Interior; representatives of workers and employers, municipal staff, and members of chambers of tradesmen and craftsmen.

The training is provided under “Opportunities for Lives Project”, one of the projects implemented by the ILO Office for Turkey. With the full title of “Job Creation and Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Syrians under Temporary Protection and Host Communities in Turkey”, the project is implemented by ILO, coordinated by the Directorate-General for International Labour Force of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, and financed by the European Union. It aims to economically and socially strengthen Syrians under temporary protection and host communities.
