Women in Ankara and Bursa receive their ‘human rights training’ certificates under ILO project

Some 409 women who participated to Ankara Altındağ and Bursa Osmangazi Municipalities’ occupation building courses under the project “More and Better Jobs for Women” implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and successfully completed their training in women’s human rights were awarded their certificates at a ceremony held on 2 and 3 June 2016 in Ankara and Bursa.

302 women received certificate in Ankara Altındağ


Women participating in the occupational courses given by Altındağ Municipality were provided training by the Association “Women’s Human Rights: New- Solutions” in 6 groups for a period of 10 weeks as part of the ILO-Altındağ Municipality cooperation. Training topics included Women’s Human Rights, Civil Rights, Constitutional Rights, Gender Equality, Communication, Violence against Women, Strategies against Violence, Women and Health and Economic Rights.

Some 302 women who successfully completed their minimum 7 weeks of training were awarded their certificates on 2 June 2016 in a ceremony held at Ulucanlar Semi-open Prison Culture and Arts Centre of Altındağ Municipality as part of the ILO project More and Better Jobs for Women: Women’s Empowerment through Decent Work in Turkeyfinanced by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

ILO project coordinator Ozan Çakmak; Vice Altındağ Mayor Tuncay Temel and Hilal Gençay from Women’s Human Rights: New- Solutions Association were also present at the award ceremony.

Giving information about the project and its training component Çakmak said, “I hope this important training programme made its contribution, however small may it be, to women’s acquisition of information and skills that will help them in both their working life and other areas.”

107 women were given certificate in Bursa Osmangazi


Women participating in the Osmangazi Municipality’s Occupation Building Courses (OSMEK) Occupational courses in the branches of sewing, handicrafts, computerized accounting, information technologies and patient hosting were provided training from the Association “Women’s Human Rights: New- Solutions” in 6 groups for a period of 10 weeks as part of the ILO-Osmangazi Municipality cooperation. Training topics included Women’s Human Rights, Civil Rights, Constitutional Rights, Gender Equality, Communication, Violence against Women, Strategies against Violence, Women and Health and Economic Rights.

Some 107 women successfully completing their training were awarded certificates on 3 June 2016 in a ceremony held at Soğanlı Culture Centre of Bursa-Osmangazi Municipality as part of the ILO project “More and Better Jobs for Women: Women’s Empowerment through Decent Work in Turkey” financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The International Labour Organization Project Coordinator Ozan Çakmak, Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dündar and Hilal Gençay from Women’s Human Rights: New- Solutions Association were also present at the ceremony.

In his speech Çakmak said, “We are pleased that this important training programme has equipped participating women with relevant information and skills that they can use in both their working life and in other areas, and we extend our thanks to all who contributed to the organization of trainings.”

Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dündar thanked ILO and the Association for their joint work in trainings and handed in certificates to participants.

61 women received training under BUSMEK

Within the framework of cooperation between ILO and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality under the same project, the Women’s Human Rights: New- Solutions Association delivered women’s human rights training to 61 job seeking women participating to Bursa Metropolitan Municipality’s Handicrafts and Vocational Training Courses (BUSMEK) in 3 groups for a period of 10 weeks.

The first stage having been completed, the second stage of trainings is planned to start from September 2016 again within the framework of cooperation between ILO and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Bursa Osmangazi Municipality under the same project.
