The Transition to Formality Programme was implemented in Adana, Bursa, Hatay, Istanbul, and Konya in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO), Social Security Institution, and the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services. KIGEP supported 460 firms to formally employ Syrians under Temporary Protection and Turkish citizens and ensured that the social security premiums were repaid to the employers. You know how they always say, “As a company, we are like a family”. In working life, th e first condition for this is formal employment. If there is no formal employment, let us be clear that the “we are like a family” statement cannot go beyond an illusion or a cliché.
