FORLAC Brochure

In Latin America and the Caribbean, there are 130 million informal workers.

This brochure presents the FORLAC program and its scope, which is: Generate knowledge on the dimensions and nature of informality, Provide advice and technical assistance, Train representatives of governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, Help strengthen the institutional capacity, Promote the exchange of successful experiences and Raise awareness among economic and social actors.

Informality impedes taking advantage of the potential of a key sector of the economy where entrepreneurship, initiative, resourcefulness, sacrice and effort are plentiful. Informality is almost always synonymous with low incomes, job instability, a lack of social protection, discouragement and violation of rights.
