Durable Solutions for Somali refugee returnees through Repatriation, Assistance and Promoting Sustainable Livelihood
The ILO Somalia is implementing a project aimed at providing durable Solutions for Somali refugee returnees through Sustainable Livelihoods. This durable solutions project will support the economic reintegration of spontaneous and/or facilitated group returns to Baidoa, through a diversified livelihood and community-based approach. This approach aims to establish conditions that will enable returnees and their communities to access their basic needs and restore their livelihoods with dignity.

The overall development objective of this project is: “to create viable employment-based reintegration livelihood opportunities for returnees and the host communities”. It will do so by promoting and creating immediate employment opportunities, improving community infrastructure and increasing access to and opportunities for self-employment. By facilitating economic exchanges and collaboration between returnees and the hosts, the project will also contribute to improved social cohesion in the target areas.
