On 7 & 8 May, the ILO will join partners to share the current status and progress on what works in youth and women’s employment in the MENA region while promoting multi-sectoral collaboration to define and address priorities for policy formulation. Key to this is the regional Community of Practice on Youth Employment, to facilitate knowledge sharing, partnership creation and up-scaling of successful youth employment interventions.

An event was held in Abidjan on 29 March 2018 to launch the report, How Immigrants Contribute to Côte d'Ivoire's Economy. The report was produced in the context of the project "Assessing the economic contribution of labour migration in developing countries as countries of destination" (ECLM). The Social Protection Week is a public event, that brings together Government, Social Partners, Cooperating Partners, Civil Society Organizations, Social Security institutions, Academia, Faith Based Organizations, Parliamentarians, Media and most importantly the general public to be informed, discuss and contribute to the development of Social Protection in Zambia.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, the ILO Cairo Office and the Middle East Council for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship (MCSBE) will hold the third Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit in Red Sea governorate from 16 to 18 November 2016, titled "A New World of Opportunities".

The theme of this edition is: "Delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The Employment–intensive Investment Approach". Participants will discuss the role and contribution of employment-intensive approaches in achieving the SDG outcomes mainly focussing on building national capacities for employment creation, expanding employment-based social protection floor and conserving the environment - including addressing climate change and its adverse effects.

The Decent Work Academy offers policy makers and development partners the opportunity to explore and debate present and future work challenges on the African continent. The Academy will draw on the experiences of leading international experts on labour rights, social protection, social dialogue, employment and enterprise development to share the latest global thinking on these topics. Participants will be equipped with additional know-how to meet the challenges of fast-evolving labour markets in African countries.
