The ILO MNEs Declaration: What's in it for Workers?

Type: Book
Date issued: 15 February 2011
Authors: ACTRAV

Now is the time to reassert the important role that international labour standards can play in promoting socially responsible economic development.A key to this development is the recognition by governments and employers that enterprises must act in a responsible way in relation to their labour practices. Many enterprises, particularly multi-national enterprises (MNEs) are responding to the demands of shareholders and consumers, arguing that they adopt socially responsible actions and behaviours. We must ensure this commitment extends to the labour dimension by requiring that as a minimum these enterprises act in accordance with international labour standards.
