Tribute to Lord Brett of Lydd, former President of Workers’ group and Vice-President of the ILO’s Governing Body

The former President of Workers’ group and Vice-President of the ILO’s Governing Body (from 1993 to 2002), Lord Bill Brett of Lydd passed away in March 2012. Following his death, a tribute was paid to him during the 313th Session of ILO Governing Body in March 2012, and at the 101st Session of the International Labour Conference in June 2012.

The former President of Workers’ group and Vice-President of the ILO’s Governing Body (from 1993 to 2002), Lord Bill Brett of Lydd passed away in March 2012. Following his death, a tribute was paid to him during the 313th Session of ILO Governing Body in March 2012, and at the 101st Session of the International Labour Conference in June 2012. During the last ILC , the current President of the Workers’ group, Luc Cortebeeck, recalled the role played by Lord Brett to serve the ILO and especially the international labor movement.

A celebration of the life of Lord Bill Brett of Lydd took place at the London headquarters of the Trades Union Congress on 20 June 2012. On this occasion, the ILO’s Director-General Elect, Guy Ryder; Anna Biondi, representative of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ILO-ACTRAV); and several trade unionists paid a warm tribute to Lord Brett of Lydd who sadly passed away at the age of 70.
