ILO to host high-level conference on the future of work we want

GENEVA (ILO news) –The ILO’s Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) will hold a high-level conference in São Tomé and Principe from 26 to 27 September 2018.

The Conference  “The Future of Work We Want: the Workers’ perspective” will bring together worker leaders and voices from academia, governments and employers from across the sub-region to discuss the profound transformations and challenges in the present and future world of work.

The event will focus on current developments in the world of work and how countries can develop appropriate strategies to face the expected changes in the world of work – with a particular focus on the role of trade unions in this process.

The opening ceremony will be chaired by His Excellency, Evaristo Carvalho, President of Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe.

Participants will listen to introductory remarks by:
  • Ms Cynthia Samuel-Olonjuwon, ILO Regional Director for Africa, Abidjan;
  • Ms Maria Helena Andre, Director of the ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV), Geneva;
  • Mr. Manuel Da Costa Carlos, General Secretary, UGT-CS of São Tomé and Príncipe
