  1. Mbabane: Launch of the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland (TUCOSWA)

    The Bureau for Workers' Activities (ILO-ACTRAV) took part in the founding congress of the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland (TUCOSWA) from 10-11 March 2012. The event marked the merger of the country's two main trade union centres, the SFTU (Swaziland Federation of Trade Unions) and the SFL (Swaziland Federation of Labour). The SNAT (Swaziland National Association of Teachers) has also joined them in the new centre.

  2. Domestic Workers: Activities and Campains for Ratification of ILO Instruments

    Since the adoption in june 2011 of the the Convention 189 (C 189)and the Recommendation 201 (R 201)for domestic workers by government , worker and employer delegates of the ILO, ,Unions in collaborration with ILO-Bureau for Workers Activities (ACTRAV) have many activities for the promotition of these two ILO instruments at the state and regional levels .In the following interwiew, three unionists shared their experiences about this issue. ACTRAV INFO met with Ms. Marieke Koning, Equality Officer at International trade union confederation (ITUC), Ms. Barbro Budin, Gender & Equality Officer and Trade Union Development Officer at International union federation (IUF) and Elizabeth Tang, International Coordinator at International Domestic Workers’ Network (IDWN).

  3. International Women’s Day: The IUF Calls for Strengthening Decent Work in Agriculture to Protect Women’s Rights

    The coordinator for global agriculture at the International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers’ Associations (IUF), Ms Sue Longley, stressed the need to strengthen decent work in agriculture to protect women’s rights.

  8. Tripartite Dissemination Workshop in Enabling Environment for Sustainable Enterprises (EESE) in Indonesia

    The Bureau for Workers Activities (ILO-ACTRAV) in collaboration with the ILO Small Enterprise Programme participated at the tripartite dissemination workshop held in Jakarta on 9 February 2012. The workshop provided an opportunity to launch the report entitled “Indonesia: An enabling environment for sustainable enterprises assessment and a survey on workers’ perception” jointly authored by Graeme Buckley and ACTRAV’s senior economist, Mohammed Mwamadzingo.

  9. Togo: Workshop on Training toolkit Inclusive Finance for Workers in Africa

    The Bureau for Workers' Activities (ACTRAV) took part in a workshop held in Lome (Togo) on 23 and 27 January 2012 on Training toolkit Inclusive Finance for Workers in Africa .This training workshop brought together 15 participants composed of trade unionists and experts on social finance.
