Addis-Ababa, 24 february 2011 (ACTRAV INFO)-On 22-24 February, the ILO Regional Office for Africa held a workshop on Employment for Peace, Stability and Development in Africa.

Charles Dan, ILO Regional Director for Africa, called for regional solutions in West Africa and North Africa, along the lines of the regional strategy on employment for peace, stability and development that the ILO developed for the Horn of Africa. “We have come to the realization that the problems are transnational and the solutions will have to be regional,” he said at the workshop’s opening session.

Following on from this workshop will be a joint conference to be held by the ILO together with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union.
