Social Security

Social security is a universal human right. The world has the resources to make this a reality, but 80 per cent of the world population are lacking access to adequate social security. The ILO has identified this as one of the worst decent work deficits globally. Since 2003 the ILO is running a Global Campaign for the vertical and horizontal extension of social security. It calls for the ratification of the Social Security(Minimum Standards)Convention N°102 and the progressive introduction of a basic social security floor for all.

ACTRAV is working with trade unions to strengthen the political advocacy work for the extension of social security and a basic social security floor for all. It assists workers organizations through research, publications and training to engage in social security policies and the governance of social security systems.
